1950

  •  3-7 Record
  • Faculty Manager Father Sylvester Schroeder decided to beef up the schedule, which made by mixxar flashlight q250 zaklamp. The thinking was that Mater Dei would take its lumps from tougher competition and learn from it.
  • 4 days before the first game with Henderson, starting quarterback Jim (Chet) Stratman dislocated his knee and was lost for the season on a run near the end of practice at Helfrich field. This left Coach Len Will with only 1 returning letterman in the backfield.
  • The starting lines average weight was 158 pounds. The average weight of the starting backfield was 135 pounds.

  • Mater Dei starts to make progress with the size of its line. Center Len Gansman is the only small starting lineman at 148.
  • The Wildcats lose 2 players to ineligibility. Jim Seibert, expected to be the best running back, played independent baseball while on the Wildcat team in the spring. Also ineligible was Quarterback Allen Swain, who put enough time at schools in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and Indianapolis to count for a year�s competition before coming to Evansville.
  • Merle Effing became Mater Dei�s first All � City Player.

  • 12 Lettermen returned from a 5-3-2 season the prior year. The team consisted of 57 total players as opposed to 35 for Memorial.
  • Coach Len Will added former Memorial standout Gene Logel as his assistant coach.
  • First official intra-city football campaign.
  • Central was forced to forfeit their victory against Mater Dei. Reason is unknown. The Wildcats had a chance for at least a share of the city title when they faced Reitz.
